QSB 3.3 Liter Engine

Published by tbell@excelcredit.com under Boats

Cummins_QSB3_3.jpg

Posted by: Sport Fisher

Description: Every Rule. Rewritten. Cummins new QSB3.3 doesn't just contradict conventional thinking. It rewrites the rules. And establishes a whole new precedent for power, performance, efficiency and reliability in a compact engine. RULE 1: A 3.3-Liter Engine Can't Achieve 110 hp Like A 4.5-Liter Engine. REWRITTEN: Cummins QSB3.3 combines the proven reliability of our 3.3-liter platform with electronics and a High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR) fuel system. The result is an engine capable of 110 hp (82 kW) in a package that takes 30% less space and weight than the 4.0- to 4.5-liter class average. For the best power-to-weight, QSB3.3 rules. RULE 2: A 3.3-Liter Engine Can't Have Premium Performance Electronics. REWRITTEN: Cummins has taken its proven Quantum electronic management system from larger engines such as the 4.5- and 6.7-liter QSB and incorporated these benefits into the compact QSB3.3. So you get important features such as auto-derate engine protection, rapid diagnostics and data download capability (particularly useful for rental companies). With PowerMatch, the engine can be electronically calibrated to a torque curve and feature set ideally suited to the individual application. As the only 3.3-liter engine with full-authority electronics, Cummins QSB3.3 rules. RULE 3: A 110-hp Engine Can't Meet Tier 3 Without EGR. REWRITTEN: This new QSB3.3 meets EPA Tier 3 and EU Stage IIIA emissions without resorting to the complexity of Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) systems found on many 80- to 110-hp (60-82 kW) Tier 3 engines. Cummins advanced in-cylinder combustion solution is simpler, more robust and already proven on our other Tier 3 Quantum engines. Additionally, it means the QSB3.3 can operate safely on fuel with high sulfur content anywhere in the world. For compact equipment that has to run clean and strong - day in and day out - Cummins QSB3.3 rules. RULE 4: A 110-hp Engine Can't Offer The Economy Of An 85-hp Engine. REWRITTEN: Not only does the QSB3.3 meet the latest emissions standards, it also retains the same low operating costs of the Tier 2 B3.3. While power has increased by almost 30%, from 85 to 110 hp (63 to 82 kW), and peak torque by over 40%, from 215 to 304 lb-ft (291 to 412 N•m), the QSB3.3 maintains the same fuel consumption as the B3.3. For a 110-hp engine with all the economy of an 85-hp engine, the QSB3.3 rules. RULE 5: A 3.3-Liter Engine Can't Be Quiet, Smooth And Clean-Running. REWRITTEN: Cummins QSB3.3 can. It sets new standards in engine sociability with noise reduction as low as 75 dBA at idle, to 89 dBA at 110 hp (82 kW) with full load. Compared to our Tier 2 B3.3, visible smoke opacity is reduced by 60% to just 0.6 Bosch while running at peak torque . There's less vibration than larger 4.0- to 4.5-liter engines because there is less reciprocating mass. Electronic controls and the HPCR fuel system enable precise fuel metering and timing to provide smoother, more refined running. For the comfort of everyone on-site, Cummins QSB3.3 rules. RULE 6: Mechanical Engines Are More Reliable. REWRITTEN: In cold-weather starting, Cummins QSB3.3 electronics offer a distinct advantage over any mechanical engine. At idle, the QSB3.3 maintains better stability. The QSB3.3 comes with the heavy-duty features you expect from a much larger Cummins engine. A cast-iron cylinder block with structural ribs, forged-steel camshaft, crankshaft and rods, and a one-piece aluminum piston provide durability equal to any competitive 4.0- to 4.5-liter engine. For dependable performance, under the toughest conditions, Cummins QSB3.3 rules.
