In-store cocktail fêtes are nothing new, but throw a bit of live music into the mix and the chicsters will come flocking. Last night at the Fendi store on Fifth Avenue, Sharon Coplan Hurowitz’s book John Baldessari: A Catalogue Raisonne of Prints and Multiples, 1971-2007 was celebrated with a performance by jazz pianist Eric Lewis, who got the masses (including one Fendi-clad Brooke Shields, above) on their high-heeled feet. Party-planners, take note: bring on the music!

What do Claudia Schiffer, Eva Herzigova and Helena Christensen have in common? Yep, they’re all from the original supermodel flock; they’re all still smoking hot; and they’re all being brought back out of retirement to help us through the recession. Last but not least, they’re all naked on the latest cover of i-D magazine.
And by naked we of course mean in nothing but thigh high boots; it is in the name of fashion, after all.

Shops & The City ci parla di città, di quartieri, di dinamiche urbanistiche che cambiano in rapporto ai punti di vendita e di quanto un negozio possa fare per caratterizzare il luogo in cui sorge.
Perchè la relazione tra negozi e città è molto stretta, ed è importante analizzarla per capire i cambiamenti e gli orientamenti economici e di consumo attuali e futuri. Shops & the City: un titolo che volutamente rimanda a un telefilm "cult" perché è così che l'autrice desidera raccontarvi i negozi.
Luoghi in cui si concretizzano relazioni, che diventano parte della città in cui viviamo o che visitiamo. Al punto di trasformarsi in punti di ritrovo, icone e simboli a Milano, News York, Tokyo…Il blog parlerà di architetture urbane e periferiche, delle piccole botteghe alla "Old Curiosity Shop" di Dickens e delle nuove cattedrali dello shopping da 200 negozi. Con un'attenzione particolare a tutto quello che stupisce e seduce un occhio smaliziato.

Burberry is one of those labels I love to hate. I get tired of the brand’s iconic plaid purses, but when it steps out of the box the designs tend to fall flat. But Burberry seems to have gotten it right with the Lizzie. And there’s not a hint of tartan in sight!
Instead the Lizzie features those on trend studs we’re seeing so much of lately. The purse is virtually covered in them, but by keeping the metal small Burberry ensures the hardware doesn’t get overwhelming. Plain diagonal leather strips break up the design, and are mirrored in the V-shaped pleats in the center of the purse.
The studs may be modern, but the size isn’t. The Lizzie bucks the contemporary taste for oversized bags, and I think it works. Those studs may have overwhelmed on a larger canvas after all. Instead we get a purse which is large enough for carrying everyday essentials but doesn’t weigh us down.
With the strap, the Lizzie is a cute daytime bag. But remove it and you’ve got one sexy little clutch for your next cocktail party. That day to night versatility makes the epic $2150 price a little easier to swallow.
