Lee DeWyze won an against-all-odds victory over season-long favorite Crystal Bowersox in a dramatic finish to the ninth season of “American Idol”. The show had more than one emotional moment as Simon Cowell closed out his final show. The victory is all the more surprising given Crystal’s power performance Tuesday night. Lee on the other hand was tentative. Only 2 percent of the vote separated the two contestants, which jives with TheImproper’s own online poll, which had DeWyze in the lead going into the show.
