‘American Idol’ Judges Notably Absent From Fox’s Upfront

When Fox introduced the stars of its unscripted shows at its upfront presentation to advertisers Monday, none of the "American Idol" judges were among them.

It was hard not to read into their absence: TheWrap reported last week that all four current judges are on their way out.

"Where's Randy?" asked former "Idol" and now "X Factor" judge Simon Cowell, who was among those onstage. Randy Jackson announced plans last week to leave the show.

"Ask Kevin," said "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest, referring to Fox entertainment chief Kevin Reilly. Seacrest was the sole representative of "Idol."

Of course it's possible the "Idol" judges couldn't attend the upfront because they are in Los Angeles for their show -- but so are the judges of NBC's "The Voice," and NBC still managed to wrangle its judges Monday for a video message to advertisers.

Party Photos: Right Again! Clive Davis Predicts Summer Sellers

Clive Got it Right - Again

After 15 years, manager Larry Rudolph still leads the way for Britney Spears.

Left: The two arrive for an encore performance of Spears' "guest host" duties at 102.7 KIIS FM's annual Wango Tango concert on Saturday afternoon.

Clear Channel's L.A. pop station's lineup for the frothy pop festival included three artists Clive Davis tapped as "you heard them here first" at his pre-Grammy party back in February: Miguel, Afrojack, and Brit Emeli Sande.

Veteran acts (a relative term for the pop genre) like Bruno Mars and Avril Lavigne (below) were also on the bill at the Home Depot Center.

Mom's Bentley

Perhaps there are ratings bonuses for every talent on "The Voice"?

After a week in which "The Voice" beat "Idol" head-to-head, the show's "Social Media Correspondent" Christina Milan rolled up to Joico and Olay's Mother's Day event at the Thompson in Beverly Hills with her three-year-old in a red matte Bentley.

Inside, a surprisingly full house for a Saturday afternoon in the sleepy business district of Beverly Hills took advantage of a beauty day for moms, grandmothers, and even mother-in-laws.

‘American Idol’ Host Ryan Seacrest Addresses Randy Jackson’s Exit

TheWrap reported on Wednesday that all four judges wouldn't be returning for Season 13 of Fox's "American Idol." So, it didn't come as too much of a surprise to us when original judge Randy Jackson announced he's leaving the show on Thursday.

Apparently, the news did take host Ryan Seacrest by surprise.

"Of course, a little later on, we'll be revealing who is leaving our show," Seacrest said as he threw some looks Randy's way as the veteran judge laughed it off on Thursday's Top 3 results episode.

"Maybe a heads-up?" the host asked.

It will be the end of a long professional relationship for the two. Seacrest and Jackson both started back on Season 1 in 2002 and have watched several of their colleagues go over the decade since.

Jackson announced his departure on Thursday, saying "I'm very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It's been a life-changing opportunity."

The musician, record and TV producer says he'll be focusing on his company, Dream Merchant 21, as well as other business ventures.

Ryan Seacrest Productions and Citizen Jones ("Lunarcy!") are producing.

Post WGAs, David O. Russell, Al Pacino Pick up Awards

An Awards Nightcap

After losing to "Argo" writer Chris Terrio at the Writers Guild Awards Sunday night, "Silver Linings Playbook" writer-director David O. Russell still came out a winner in Hollywood.

Russell picked up a "Director of the Year" Award at the L.A., Italia Film Festival, which took place at the rechristened TCL Chinese Theatre (formerly Grauman's).

For any as-yet undecided Academy voters watching the clock, Russell's appearance came only hours before Oscars voting closes Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Al Pacino joined Russell at the festival, picking up the inaugural Jack Valenti - Legend Award, a tribute to the late former MPAA president. Larry King, fresh off presenting duties at the "Streamy Awards" earlier in the day presented to Pacino.

Scheduling issues kept Robert De Niro and Jennifer Lawrence away from picking up their respective Actor and Actress of the Year awards on Sunday night, but just-off-the-plane-from-New York Harvey Weinstein accepted on their behalf.

Talent manager Rick Nicita, Martha De Laurentiis (above right, with Russell), and Mark Canton steer the eighth edition of the L.A. Italia festival, which coincides with Oscar week.

Continuing past the Academy's voting deadline and into Oscar weekend, the festival ...

Rainn Wilson, Ryan Seacrest, Zooey Deschanel Headline the Social 25

Rainn Wilson, Zooey Deschanel and Ryan Seacrest are just a few of the celebrities selected to the "Social 25," a new list honoring the 25 most influential and socially active brands in Los Angeles.

The list, compiled by Drew Baldwin, co-founder of online video site Tubefilter, and Shira Lazar, host of the Emmy-nominated "What's Trending," is the linchpin of Baldwin's revamping of Social Media Week Los Angeles, which takes place Sept. 24 to 28.

Baldwin, executive director of the week-long conference, will orient the event around the entertainment industry with a film festival, concerts and Hollywood parties.

"We chose entertainment because it's so particular to LA. In other cities Social Media Week is always advertising or marketing themed, but there are so many people here that people want to hear from," Baldwin told TheWrap. "It's hard for an event to get traction without a brand or definition."

Ryan Seacrest – Get This – Gives Other People Jobs

Apparently, there are a few jobs that Ryan Seacrest doesn't do.

The "American Idol" and "On Air With Ryan Seacrest" host, E! News managing editor and anchor, and head of Ryan Seacrest Productions is giving jobs to other people that he could, no doubt, just as easily perform single-handedly. RSP is responsible for "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," its E! spin-offs, and "Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution," among other shows.

Who will do the jobs that Seacrest, improbably, does not?

First, there's Nina Wass, a producer of more than 500 episodes and twenty network pilots. As RSP's new executive vice president of scripted programming, she will help the company further expand into scripted television.

Heather Schuster, meanwhile, is RSP's new senior vice president of development. She joins the company from  Reveille/Shine, where she was SVP of creative affairs and an executive producer.

But wait. There are other jobs that Seacrest is not, as of this writing, doing himself.

One of them, RSP vice president of development, belongs to Joseph Ferraro, who was previously vice president of programming at OWN. Also, Gordon Cassidy, who has worked as a development consultant with Seacrest's company, is joining it full time as vice president of ...
