‘Smallville’ Fan Columnist: Catch A Shooting Star…

Published by editor@buddytv.com under TV

…and put it in your pocket, never let
it fade away–only envision the shooting star as rising ratings.

Smallville Fan Columnist, Trish Neale is excited to share some Smallville news with you. If you’re interested in becoming a
fan columnist,

Admittedly, climbing ratings on The CW
are relative. If NCIS just crested Mount Everest and Ghost Whisperer
reached the heights of Mount Kilimanjaro, then Smallville might scale
the Appalachian range. Nonetheless, the fact remains that ratings are
on the rise.

A Christmas Carol Reviews

Published by reelz reelz under Movies

A Christmas CarolWe think this is officially the 25th movie version of the classic Dickens tale, this time done with the performance capture technique director Robert Zemeckis used for The Polar Express and Beowulf. Reviews are split, basically along the line of how one feels about performance capture.

10“…a marvelous and touching yuletide toy of a movie, and the miracle is that it goes right back to the gilded Victorian spirit of those black-and-white films of yore.”

— Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly

9“…an exhilarating visual experience…”

— Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

5Disney’s A Christmas Carol is, in its essence, a product reel, a showy, exuberant demonstration of the glories of motion capture, computer animation and 3D technology. On that level, it’s a wow. On any emotional level, it’s as cold as Marley’s Ghost.“

— Kirk Honeycutt, Hollywood Reporter

5“…a whiz-bang 3-D thrill-ride with all the emotional satisfaction squeezed out of it.”

— Ella Taylor, LA Weekly

4“Shortchanging traditional animation by literalizing it while robbing actors of their full range of facial expressiveness, the performance-capture technique favored by director Robert Zemeckis looks more than ever like the emperor’s new clothes in Disney’s A Christmas Carol.”

— Todd McCarthy, Variety

Shutter Island Writer Adapting Ghost in the Shell

Published by BrentJS Sprecher under Movies

Ghost in the ShellDreamWorks has had its eye on the popular Japanese cyberpunk property Ghost in the Shell for some time now. Created by Masamune Shirow and first published as a manga (Japanese for "comic book") in 1989, Ghost in the Shell is a futuristic thriller that details the exploits of sexy cyborg Motoko Kusanagi and Section 9, the elite covert crime unit she leads. The original spawned two additional manga editions, three animated movie adaptations, three video games, and a long-running TV series.

DreamWorks' connection to the film began in 2004 when it released the second film, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. DreamWorks acquired the rights to adapt the property for an American audience in April 2008 and announced plans to produce a 3-D live-action movie. DreamWorks founder Steven Spielberg has admitted his love of the property and was instrumental in acquiring the rights.

Ghost in the Shell is one of my favorite stories. It's a genre that has arrived, and we enthusiastically welcome it to DreamWorks.

Since that 2008 announcement, there has been virtually no news about the project. Now, DreamWorks has announced that Laeta Kalogridis, the writer and executive producer of Martin Scorsese's new thriller, Shutter Island, will be writing the Ghost in the Shell screenplay, replacing original writer, Jamie Moss.

Patrick Swayze has died. The actor has sadly passed away after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57.

A statement from Swayze’s publicist:

“Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months.”

I’ll always remember Patrick Swayze in two of my most all-time favorite movies “Ghost” and “Dirty Dancing“. He was an amazing actor, dancer and human being! he will be sadly missed. God Bless
