Project Runway wrapped its first season on Lifetime with season-best numbers.
The Season 6 Runway finale was watched by 4.2 million viewers, topping the night amongst the cable competition. That number was roughly 500,000 people fewer than Season 5’s finale on Bravo.
Over on the networks, CBS finally loosened ABC’s stranglehold on Thursday night, as it took the top spot in total viewers and in the adults 18-49 demographic. The return of Red John on The Mentalist (15.8 million viewers) was the night’s most-watched show, building on solid numbers from CSI (15 million viewers) and Survivor: Samoa (12. 3 million viewers.)
All of the networks’ numbers were down, but ABC took the hardest hit…

I love a good underdog story. You know, the sort that does not see the protagonist endure loss after loss after loss, only to start winning after a melodramatic moment with a figure of inspiration, with poetic phrases and life-affirming moments in between. Get the balance right, and I’ll definitely root for the underdog, rather than feel worse knowing that the supposed loser will win in the end. But that’s just me and my ability to relate everything with myself.
There is, of course, an underdog story in Survivor: Samoa, and no, I’m not referring to Foa Foa. Sure, they lost almost every challenge, found themselves in Tribal Council more often than perhaps anybody else–what Jeff described as the worse performance of any tribe in the show’s history. Sure, the folks at Galu were kicking them both in the challenges and in Tribal Council. And then the merge happened and they were taking advantage of every loophole they can find to send the purples home one, by one, by one. That’s not exactly an underdog story: they really weren’t helpless. Just look at Russell.

There might be a lot of viewers who were troubled by how Irina Shabayeva acted on the sixth season of
Project Runway. It was even more devastating for some when this season’s villain won the competition. But it never really was a question of behavior on the show; it was of skill. In the judges’ point of view.
We’ve been raised to believe that good triumphs over evil most of the time. Unfortunately, that usually occurs in fairy tales. In reality television, meanwhile, there are plenty of times the baddies get what they want. The world’s not just black and white, and a little color’s always encouraged in Project Runway.

After months of oddball challenges, tension in the workroom, and tears on the catwalk, the highly anticipated finale of
Project Runway 6 has come. And now it’s over. All that boils down to one thing though: the woman who will take home the much-coveted prize. In this case, we’re talking about Irina Shabayeva.
Many believed it was a tough competition when the three finalists - Irina, Althea and Carol Hannah - showed off their collections in Bryant Park. With 13 looks each up on the runway, it seemed impossible to predict who would emerge victorious.
